KEENE, N. H. —
An annoyed drinker at a lounge thwarted a robbery attempt by knocking out the would-be thief with a bar stool, police said Friday.
John McNally, 64, of Island Falls, Me., was jailed pending arraignment on armed robbery charges, police said.
McNally pretended that he had a gun and demanded cash at the Veterans of Foreign Wars lounge Thursday, police said. But, when he turned to leave with the loot, the customer hit him with a bar stool.
