A Christian evangelical group opened “EXPLO 85,” a four-day event believed to be the largest international conference of its kind ever by transmitting the first of four two-hour video segments to 98 satellite dishes in 50 nations simultaneously. San Bernardino-based Campus Crusade for Christ will beam its closed-circuit interdenominational evangelical training to 500,000 people around the world simultaneously over the next four days via 17 communications satellites, said Stephen Douglass, national director of the conference. After the evangelism training, the conference will focus on attempting to convert others to Christianity, Douglass said. In the United States, the conference is being transmitted between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m.
