Newport Beach : 7th Annual High School Spelling Bee to Be Held
The seventh annual Orange County High School Spelling Competition will be held on Jan. 23 at Newport Harbor High School, the Orange County Department of Education announced.
Bill Stauffer, representing the Santa Ana Rotary Club, which sponsors the event, will award the top winner a cash prize of $200, with $100 going to the runner-up, according to an Education Department spokesman.
Students from Orange County’s public and private high schools will take part in the contest, and the top two finishers will represent the county at the State High School Spelling Championship in Orinda on May 8.
