MONTREAL — Sergei Makarov scored three goals while goaltender Sergei Milinkov stopped 23 shots to lead the Red Army to a 6-1 drubbing of the Montreal Canadiens in an exhibition hockey game Tuesday night.
Makarov completed his hat trick at 8:03 of the third period for the Soviets’ sixth goal that chased Canadiens goaltender Doug Soetaert from the net. He was replaced by Patrick Roy.
