Olympic track and field gold medalists Mal Whitfield and Barbara Ferrell Edmonson head former athletes who have been selected to the Cal State Los Angeles Athletic Hall of Fame, Athletic Director Dennis Keihn has announced.

Whitfield won gold medals in the 800 meters in the 1948 and 1952 Olympics and another gold in the 1,600-meter relay in 1948. Edmonson was a member of the 1968 U.S. 400-meter relay team that won a gold at the Olympics at Mexico City.

Others named to the hall are badminton star Chris Kinard, basketball players Ron Knight and Suzi Iwami, track star Yolanda Rich, football standout Joe Womack and Ferron Losse, the school’s first athletic director from 1949-1963.
