SANTA ANA : SAMSON Plans to Air Issues at Open Forum

The Santa Ana Merged Society of Neighbors--which now has a membership of 15 separate groups--plans an open forum Saturday morning with Santa Ana residents “concerned with what is perceived to be insensitive and arbitrary city government,” said coalition spokesman Ron H. Heike.

Members of the group, known as SAMSON, include Save Our Stadium, which is opposed to demolishing Santa Ana Stadium, and the Fireman’s Benevolent Assn.

The public meeting Saturday will be at 8:30 a.m. at the Saddleback Inn, 1660 East 1st St.

The recently formed coalition announced last month that it would mount a recall effort against all seven City Council members. But last week the group agreed to drop the recall effort if its demands are placed on the ballot. Those demands include electing council members by wards, eliminating the city manager’s job and making the mayor’s position a full-time elected post.
