Local News in Brief : Boy Dies a Day After His Scooter Hit Horse
A 15-year-old boy died early Thursday from massive head injuries he suffered when his motor scooter collided with a horse on a fog-covered Hidden Hills road early Wednesday, sheriff’s deputies said.
Patrick Geesen of Hidden Hills had been on life-support systems at Westlake Community Hospital until his death at 1 a.m., Sgt. Kevin Mauch said.
Geesen’s passenger, Brian Wankel, 15, of Malibu, suffered minor injuries and was released Thursday from the hospital, Mauch said.
The accident occurred in the 24800 block of Jim Bridger Road when the scooter struck a horse that was running loose, Mauch said. The horse, which had escaped from a house near the road, was not seriously hurt.
