Guard Walter Davis of the Phoenix Suns...
Guard Walter Davis of the Phoenix Suns is scheduled to be released Friday from a Pasadena clinic for drug and alcohol abuse and should be able to play by next week, club officials said.
Coach John MacLeod said Davis could see some action in next Monday night’s game against the San Antonio Spurs at Phoenix.
MacLeod said Davis, a five-time all-star, would need to “run through a few practices” before playing in a game, however.
Davis, 31, entered the clinic on Dec. 12 after asking club officials for help with a “personal problem.” The night before, he had tied his career high with a 43-point effort against the Golden State Warriors in Phoenix’s 123-113 win at Oakland.
