The Arizona Civil Air Patrol launched a search today for a small plane with three people aboard which was last seen Wednesday evening at the Grand Canyon.

Air patrol spokesman Lt. Col. Ray Agee said the single-engine Cessna 172, rented in Las Vegas, had left there at 1 p.m. Wednesday, although no flight plan was filed. The plane was last seen at 5:45 p.m. that same day when it left Grand Canyon Airport following a refueling stop.
