It Might Have Been Worth It to See Plunkett Play
I am truly amazed by management’s (Al Davis, Tom Flores, etc.) decision to keep two-time Super Bowl hero Jim Plunkett on the injured-reserve list for the AFC semifinal playoff game. The explanation being given is that to activate Plunkett would create unnecessary “pressure” on starting quarterback Marc Wilson.
If Wilson, a professional athlete being paid nearly $1 million a season, cannot operate under pressure, what success can he expect in an NFL playoff game before 90,000 fans?
