La Puente : Job Program Funded
The La Puente Valley Adult School has received a $600,000 federal grant to run a free job training and placement program scheduled to begin Jan. 21. The program, titled Project Match Up, will take people with little formal education or job experience and provide them with a free 200-hour, seven-day-a-week intensive course in industrial assembly techniques. Money for the program comes from the U.S. Department of Education and is matched by local funds. The bulk of the training will take place at the Valley Vocational Center, 15381 E. Proctor Ave., City of Industry, where those who wish to enroll may apply.
