Police arrested a man for tearing the clothes off a woman and tying her up after he robbed her of $7.20 and a pack of cigarettes, police said Wednesday.
Wayne Ford, 24, of Irvine was arrested on suspicion of armed robbery after officers found the nude woman tied up in a room at the Cavalier Motel, 11811 Harbor Blvd., Sgt. Bruce Beauchamp said.
The woman, Penny Gookin of Anaheim, told police that she was robbed at knifepoint by Ford after midnight Tuesday, Beauchamp said.
Apparently Ford became upset because Gookin did not have more money, so he tied her up and tore her clothes off, police said.
Friends of Gookin had flagged down a police car traveling on Harbor Boulevard and told patrol officers that she was in trouble.
When the officers entered the motel room they found Gookin tied up. A knife was found in Ford’s possession, police said.
Ford was booked in Orange County Jail on $50,000 bond.
