7 Students, 1 Adult Injured in School Bus Traffic Accident

Seven children and an adult were injured Wednesday in the first of two Los Angeles school district bus accidents that came just seven minutes apart during the morning rush hour, snarling traffic on two freeways.
The first accident occurred on the northbound Harbor Freeway at 7:03 a.m. near the Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard exit, fire spokesman Greg Acevedo said.
Fire Department ambulances carried the injured to California Medical Center, White Memorial Hospital and County-USC Medical Center, he said.
All the injured were treated at hospitals for minor injuries and released.
Bill Bolton of the Los Angeles Unified School District said the injured youths were among 50 pupils from South Los Angeles en route to Francis Parkman Junior High School in Woodland Hills.
The second mishap, on the northbound San Diego Freeway near Santa Monica Boulevard, occurred at 7:10 a.m., when a car traveling behind the bus tried to change lanes and cut the bus off, causing a minor collision, Bolton said.
There were no injuries aboard the bus.
