A second Naval officer has died as the result of a bizarre accident aboard the aircraft carrier Enterprise, the Navy said. Lt. (j.g.) Stephen P. Engeman, 28, of Rockford, Ill., died at UCLA Medical Center. Engeman, a radio intercept operator, and Lt. Joe Durmon, a Navy pilot, were getting out of an F-14 jet after landing on the carrier, operating off the coast of San Luis Obispo, when their seats accidentally ejected. They were thrown into the air and onto the deck. Durmon, 34, of San Diego, was killed instantly. Both men were stationed at Miramar Naval Air Station in San Diego. The Navy said it has not determined why the seats ejected.
