A 61-year-old San Diego man was killed and his wife and son injured Saturday night when their car crashed head-on with another vehicle that was driving the wrong way on Old Highway 101, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Saad Zaghloul Mikhail was declared dead at Scripps Memorial Hospital in Encinatas at 7:57 p.m., authorities said.

The dead man was a passenger in a car driven by his son, Robert Mikhail, 23, who was listed in stable condition Sunday at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla. Georgette Mikhail, 56, was in critical condition at the same hospital. The mother and son were flown to the hospital by Life Flight helicopter.
