Jan Kemp, former University of Georgia instructor who claims she was fired for criticizing unfair academic help for athletes, was accused in federal court of ghost-writing term papers for two failing athletes.
Virginia Sue Kenney, a former library orientation teacher, testified in U.S. District Court that she suspected Kemp had written a “perfect” term paper for a student, allowing him to pass a library studies course he had been failing.
Kemp, who was demoted and then fired in 1983, is seeking reinstatement, back pay and damages. The university contends that she was fired for being insubordinate and for failing to publish enough scholarly work.
