AND WAIT, THERE’S MORE: Just when you thought it was safe to turn on the radio again . . . Wally George is back. The man who has practically made a career out of blaming rock for everything from terrorizing parents to tooth decay returns to the radio-waves Feb. 16, when he’ll begin hosting “Wally George’s All-American Radio Special,” a three-hour call-in and music show which will air from 6 to 9 p.m. on KKLA-FM (99.5). George says he’ll continue his attacks on heavy metalers, drugs, left-wingers and all the other usual suspects, interspersing his blasts with contemporary Christian music from such artists as Amy Grant and Stryper. The latter band plays heavy-metal music, but as George put it, “Christian heavy-metal is OK in my book.” . . . The Blue Oyster Cult has reunited with original producer Sandy Pearlman, who’s at the helm of “Club Ninja,” the band’s upcoming record. . . . Nick Garvey, former lead singer for the British band, the Motors, has joined PolyGram Records in England as an A&R; exec. . . . Here’s our favorite Album Description of the Month, courtesy of ex-Wall of Voodoo singer Stan Ridgeway, whose new solo album, “The Big Heat,” is due out in February. Ridgeway describes his album as “John Coltrane meets Ethel Merman at a sex boutique, they organize a shark-meat barbecue and then drive to Salinas. . . .” Well, you get the picture. . . . And Aretha Franklin fans can once again find one of her rare classics, “Live at the Fillmore West,” which is now available as a compact disc from the Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab. The 1971 release, which features an all-star band including King Curtis, Billy Preston and Bernard Purdie, offers live versions of such classics as “Respect,” “Dr. Feelgood” and “Spirit in the Dark.”
