A 42-year-old Los Angeles man was fatally wounded by two Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies after he allegedly pointed a loaded shotgun at them in the parking lot of a neighborhood cocktail lounge. The deputies were on patrol at 2:05 a.m. when they noticed two men standing outside the Llamarada Bar at Beach Street and Firestone Boulevard in an unincorporated area of the county, according to Deputy Pete Fosselman, a sheriff’s spokesman. One of the men allegedly pointed a shotgun at the deputies, who both drew their service revolvers and opened fire. The armed man, who was not immediately identified, was hit in the abdomen at least once. He was taken to Martin Luther King Jr. Medical Center, where he died at 2:41 a.m. His companion, who ran after the shooting, was captured a short time later by the deputies and questioned, but was not immediately charged with any crimes. Authorities declined to identify the deputies involved in the shooting.
