Mark Bostic scored a career-high 23 points to lead the University of San Diego to a 67-43 win over the University of Portland Saturday night in a West Coast Athletic Conference game at San Diego.

The Toreros led, 33-23, at halftime and never looked back to improve their conference record 3-1 and 13-5 overall.

Pete Murphy scored 13 points, while Scott Thompson scored 8 points, pulled down 6 rebounds and had 7 assists for San Diego.

Fred Harris scored 11 points to lead Portland, which fell to 0-4 and 9-9.

Gonzaga 79, St. Mary’s 61--At Moraga, Gonzaga made 58% of its field-goal attempts on the way to its first conference win of the season.

Freshman forward Jim McPhee hit 6 of 7 from the field to finish with 14 points, and Danny Roe was 5 of 5 for 10 points to lead the Bulldogs (8-9 and 1-3).

St. Mary’s (9-8 and 2-2) shot 45% from the floor. Their top scorer was Paul Robertson, with 18 points.
