The decision by Canada to extradite a convicted murderer to Pennsylvania prompted Calaveras County Dist. Atty. John Martin to say he hopes that it will set a precedent for the return to California of mass murder suspect Charles Ng, 25, currently imprisoned in Calgary for armed robbery. Ng is charged with eight counts of murder in Calaveras County and one in San Francisco in connection with the bones of victims found near a Sierra foothills cabin last summer. Martin said he will meet with California state and Canadian officials during February to discuss the possible extradition of Ng. Before the case of Joseph Kindler, convicted of murder in Philadelphia, Canada has refused to extradite anyone facing a possible death penalty.
