Making a Rotten Job of a Choice Assignment

Mike Downey’s article on Jim McMahon supposedly being obnoxious and showing no class after winning was below-the-belt journalism. To substantiate this he quotes Patriot back Ray Clayborn saying, “He’s a jerk.”
How much validity is there to a postgame comment by an opposing player who just got annihilated by this person and his team? It’s rather absurd that Downey puts so much respect on the pouting Clayborn when his team has been warned all year about taunting their opponents and excessive unsportsmanlike conduct.
Downey seems to take a personal slight that McMahon wasn’t doing body flips of ecstasy in the postgame locker room, when in fact all he was trying to be was honest in saying “It all hasn’t sunk in yet, but probably will later.”
He complimented Richard Dent for getting MVP and stated he was happy for the Fridge. He volunteered the information that he made a mistake that caused Payton to fumble early in the game. It takes a man with a lot of class to admit that to the world. I’m afraid the person, in this case, with no class is Mike Downey.
