Aztec Women Hold Off UNLV, 77-71
The San Diego State women’s basketball team converted six straight free throws in the final 1:09 of play Saturday night to gain a 77-71 win over Nevada Las Vegas in a Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. game at Peterson Gym. The win moved the Aztecs (4-1, 11-8) into second place ahead of UNLV (4-2, 12-7).
SDSU guard Dee Dee Duncan, who scored six of the Aztecs’ last eight points, had a game-high 23 points. Lisa Stevens scored 20 and Shelda Arcenaux had 15 points, 8 rebounds and 9 steals. It was the Aztecs’ fifth straight win, and they are 8-0 at home this season.
Donya Monroe led UNLV with 20 points. Angela Christian scored 16 points and had 15 rebounds.
