CBS TO ADD THREE SERIES IN SCHEDULING SHAKEUP

CBS’ problem-plagued Tuesday and Wednesday program lineups will get another overhaul in March, the network said Tuesday. It will introduce three new series and move four others to new time slots.

The new shows are “Fast Times,” a comedy about teen-agers based on the movie “Fast Times at Ridgemont High”; “Tough Cookies,” another comedy starring Robby Benson as a Chicago policeman, and “Morningstar/Eveningstar,” a drama about what happens when a group of orphans moves in with a group of senior citizens. The adults in the latter show will be played by Mason Adams, Jeff Corey, Scatman Crothers, Kate Reid, Sylvia Sidney, Elizabeth Wilson and Teresa Wright.

“Fast Times” and “Tough Cookies” will air Wednesdays from 8 to 9 p.m., beginning March 5. They’ll replace “Mary” and “Foley Square,” which will move to the 9-10 p.m. block on Tuesdays, starting March 25.

“Morningstar/Eveningstar” will debut March 25 at 8 p.m. It will replace “Trapper John, M.D.,” which moves into that time period next week as a temporary replacement for the low-rated “Melba” and “Charlie and Company.”

Rounding out the new Tuesday lineup will be “The Equalizer” at 10 p.m., moving from Wednesdays.

CBS’ “Tuesday Night Movies” will become the “Wednesday Night Movies,” continuing to run from 9 to 11 p.m.
