Rogers Doubtful for UCI’s Game Against Fresno St.

UC Irvine senior forward Johnny Rogers missed practice Tuesday with a fever of 103 degrees and is doubtful for the Anteaters’ game Thursday night against Fresno State, Coach Bill Mulligan said.
Rogers, UCI’s leading rebounder and second-leading scorer, was examined by a team doctor Tuesday afternoon and sent home. Mulligan said it is unlikely that Rogers would be available for Thursday night’s game at Crawford Hall, and hopes to have him back for Saturday night’s home game against the University of the Pacific.
Rick Ciaccio, a 6-foot 10-inch senior who has played sparingly and is averaging 1.7 points per game, will make his first start of the season if Rogers is unable to play. Irvine (6-4, 10-9) was beaten by Fresno State, 53-48, Jan. 9 in Selland Arena.
