John Bandovic and Redmond Lane scored two goals apiece to lead the St. Louis Steamers to a 7-4 victory Tuesday over the outmanned Lazers in a Major Indoor Soccer League game.

The Lazers entered the contest missing six players, including leading scorer Willie Molano, due to injuries, and two more were added to the list when defenders Neil Gibson and Mike Hunter were hurt. Two other players also played with minor injuries.

“Ten (players) down, nine to go,” Lazer Coach Peter Wall said of his team’s decimated roster.

The Steamers took an early 2-0 lead on goals by Daryl Doran and Bandovic. But the Lazers came back to tie the score on first-quarter goals by Beto and Gibson.

St. Louis went ahead, 4-2, before the half on goals by Don Ebert, his 17th of the season, and Bandovic. The Steamers went up by three goals in the last quarter on Lane’s first goal of the night.

The Lazers closed to within two at 5-3 on a goal by Juan Cardenas, but the Steamers answered with goals by Jeff Cacciatore and Lane to seal the victory.
