‘Food: Keep the Faith’

In response to your editorial, I should like to comment that I am not at all surprised to learn that the FDA has been lax on dangerous livestock drugs. In fact, with the many revelations of dangerous foods and drugs in our society in recent years, I really wonder if Americans do actually have any sense of faith about the safety of their food.

Personally, I have developed a sort of subconscious, resigned ambivalence rather than have faith that what I am eating could not be potentially harmful to me.

The really sad point in all this is that budget cuts and the desire to promote or protect economic growth seem to still take precedence in this country over safety of its citizens. We really have not come very far from those filthy slaughterhouse conditions, after all.
