USC Receives Commitments From Tuliau, 2 Other Southland Prep Football Standouts

Brian Tuliau of Long Beach Poly, one of the top linebackers on the West Coast, said Wednesday that he will fulfill a childhood dream and play college football for USC.

The Trojans also received verbal commitments from outstanding lineman Don Gibson of El Modena in Orange and linebacker Charles Burnham from Long Beach Jordan.

Additionally, a pair of All-Southern Section offensive standouts from Orange County announced their intentions--tight end Ken Griggs of Huntington Beach Edison saying he will go to Utah and tackle Darran Baird of Dana Hills picking Stanford. Brigham Young got defensive tackle Scott Moberly from Huntington Beach.

Colorado, which will get top running back J.J. Flannigan of Pomona, continues to have success recruiting in the Los Angeles area. The Buffaloes received verbal commitments from All-Southern Section defensive back John Hardy of Coastal Conference champion Pasadena Muir and M.J. Nelson of Simi Valley. Nelson, who played running back in high school but figures to be a wide receiver or defensive back in college, was named the top player in Ventura County by a vote of coaches.
