Tied for fourth at 141 were Jan Geddes, whose 66 was the low round of the day, and Patti Rizzo and Barb Thomas, both with 70s.

Charlie Owens, who plays golf cross-handed, shot a seven-under-par 65 to take the first-round lead in the $225,000 Treasure Coast Classic at the Tournament Players Club at Fort Pierce, Fla.

Owens holed out a 40-yard wedge shot for an eagle and made five birdies to take a one-stroke lead over Paul Harney and South African Harold Henning in the first regular event of the 1986 schedule.
