AND NOW HERE’S THE NEWS: Remember “Born in the U.S.A.,” the Paul Schrader screenplay whose title became the name of Bruce Springsteen’s mega-platinum album? The film, which begins shooting in Chicago late next month, has a new title--”Around the Corner to the Light of Day,” which is also the film’s title song, written by Springsteen himself (we can’t wait to see how it’s going to fit on theater marquees). The film, about a brother-and-sister rock ‘n’ roll band called the Barbusters, stars Michael J. Fox and Joan Jett, who’ll play Patti Rasnick, the rebellious lead singer in the group and sing the Springsteen song. The film, which will be released by Tri-Star Pictures in the spring of 1987, marks Jett’s film debut. Although Jett’s last album, on MCA Records, was a major commercial disappointment, the raucous rocker has just signed a new contract with Epic Records, who should have a new Jett record in the stores as early as next month. . . . Meanwhile, another popster on the comeback is Boy George, who will perform a trio of songs on (gasp!) “The A-Team” this Tuesday at 8 p.m. on NBC. The Boy plays himself as the Culture Club is mistakenly scheduled to play before a spit-kicking crowd who is expecting a C&W; band called Cowboy George and his Range Rats.
