A 58-year-old motorcyclist was killed Wednesday morning near Saugus when his bike crossed into an oncoming lane, sideswiped one car and slammed head-on into a second, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said.
The victim’s name was not released.
One of the people in the second car, Steven Venderman, 42, of Valencia, was in critical condition at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital with chest and abdominal injuries, hospital spokeswoman Anita Weld said. Venderman’s wife, Lyn, 29, and an occupant of the first car, Denise Newbauer, 28, of Palmdale, were treated at the hospital and released, Weld said.
The accident occurred at 11:55 a.m. when the westbound motorcyclist crossed the center line on Vasquez Canyon Road 1.5 miles east of Bouquet Canyon Road in the Forrest Park area, CHP spokesman Manuel Avila said.
