Marina del Rey residents have collected enough signatures to force the county to consider incorporation of the 800-acre community. The county Registrar of Voters certified 1,468 valid signatures, 178 more than the number required to force the Los Angeles County Local Agency Formation Commission to hold a hearing on cityhood. The Board of Supervisors must set an incorporation election if the commission approves the application, and more than half the marina’s 5,160 registered voters do not file written protests.
