Cal Trounces Stanford, 81-53
Kevin Johnson scored 21 points Saturday night to lead California to an 81-53 victory over Stanford at Berkeley.
The Bears (15-7 overall and 7-5 in the Pac-10) broke open a close game with a 10-1 surge for a 22-11 lead with 11:26 left in the first half. The Bears went on to a 39-22 halftime lead.
Stanford (12-12, 6-6) never came closer than 11 points the rest of the way.
Johnson also grabbed 9 rebounds and had 7 assists. Dave Butler added 15 points for the Bears.
Novian Whitsitt had 14 points for Stanford, which made just 18 of 57 shots. Todd Lichti added 12 and Greg Butler 10.
