Enberg Decides Not to Work Angel Games

Dick Enberg has told the Angels that he will not return this season as a radio announcer. He will remain associated with the club as a broadcast adviser, however.

Enberg said that he decided not to work on the air this season because of his commitment to NBC-TV and because he and his wife Barbara are expecting their second child in April. Also, the Enbergs are preparing to move into a new home in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.

Enberg, an Angel announcer from 1968 through 1978, returned last season and worked 40 radio broadcasts.

The Angels are not expected to replace Enberg, who was the third member of a broadcasting team that also included Ron Fairly and Alan Conin. The Angels’ TV announcers are Bob Starr and Joe Torre.
