Pomona : Buckley Among Lecturers
Author and political commentator William F. Buckley Jr. will be among the nationally recognized scholars and public figures featured during the Douglass Adair Symposia at Cal Poly Pomona and Pomona College in Claremont.
The free lecture series, already underway, honors the late Douglass Adair, a professor of history at Claremont Graduate School, for his scholarship on 18th-Century intellectual thought. In anticipation of the bicentennial celebration of the Constitution in 1987, the series takes as its theme the present relevance of the nation’s founding charter.
The speakers include Leonard Levy, winner of the 1969 Pulitzer Prize in history, Feb. 26; Austin Ranney, an author and resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research in Washington, D. C., March 5; Lani Guinier, a former special assistant in the U. S. Department of Justice’s civil rights division, March 19; Buckley, April 9; and James MacGregor Burns, a Pulitzer Prize-winning author, April 16. The lectures begin at 7:30 p.m.
