Driver, 78, Killed as Pickup Hits Car
A 78-year-old Huntington Beach man was killed instantly Wednesday when his car was hit by a pickup truck, authorities said.
Huntington Beach police said the victim, identified as Henry L. Anderson, pulled out of a shopping center driveway at the southeast corner of Brookhurst Street and Adams Avenue and his car was struck broadside by a northbound pickup truck.
Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the 4:30 p.m. crash, a coroner’s spokesman said.
The driver of the truck, identified as Bruce Malcolm, 28, of Costa Mesa, was taken to Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach, where he was treated for minor injuries and released, police said.
Anderson was at fault in the accident, police said.
