Cal State Fullerton’s Protzo Wins Golf Title
Jeff Protzo of Cal State Fullerton won a sudden-death playoff Wednesday to capture the individual title in the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate Golf Championships at the Mountain View Country Club in Corona. Protzo won on the first extra hole, shooting a par-4 to beat Ted Norby of UC Irvine. Protzo and Norby shot a 149 for 36 holes.
Cal State Long Beach and UCI tied for the team title with 772 points but the 49ers were awarded the title on the basis of lowest sixth-man score. Cal State Fullerton tied for sixth place with Cal State Dominguez Hills at 786.
