A Santa Ana couple were arrested early Thursday morning on suspicion of possessing a pipe bomb and possessing cocaine for sale, both felonies.
In arresting Linda Bennett, 28, and her husband, Gregory Bennett, 31, a laborer, Santa Ana police said, they also confiscated three large pipe bombs and three handguns from the couple’s Flower Street home.
Sgt. Dan Carr said the arrests grew out of an ongoing investigation into criminal activity by motorcycle gangs in Orange County.
At about 7 a.m. Thursday, 15 Santa Ana and Anaheim police officers and Orange County sheriff’s deputies served search warrants at the couple’s Flower Street home, at two homes in Anaheim and at another home in Orange.
After pipe bombs were found in the garage of the Flower Street home, several nearby homes were evacuated so sheriff’s bomb disposal officers could remove the bombs, Carr said.
In addition to arresting the Bennetts, police arrested Kirk A. Williams, 35, a laborer from Anaheim, on suspicion of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and Lance M. Galky, 44, of Anaheim on suspicion of possessing cocaine for sale and possession of marijuana. Police also found a sawed-off shotgun, seven ounces of cocaine and a small amount of marijuana and methamphetamines in several of the homes where they served warrants, Carr said.
