Brea : Speeding Driver Killed When His Car Hits Pole
A Chino man was killed early Saturday when his speeding sports car went out of control and struck a power pole, a police spokesman said.
Lt. Jim Winder said James Arnold Hatfield, 45, was killed at 3:45 a.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve, struck the pole and was thrown from the car. Hatfield was traveling west on Carbon Canyon Road near Carbon Canyon Regional Park in Brea, Winder said.
Winder said Hatfield suffered massive injuries when he was thrown from the car and hit a tree.
“The cause of this was speed. He was going very fast,” Winder said.
