An ordinance to regulate temporary parking lots during the first space shuttle launch at Vandenberg Air Force Base has been approved by Santa Barbara County supervisors. About 200,000 visitors are expected to attend the first West Coast launch of the space shuttle, tentatively scheduled for this summer, the county estimates. Under the ordinance, vacant farmlands near Lompoc may be used as parking lots with a permit from the county.
