COLLEGE BASEBALL : The Master’s Bounces Back With Rout of Christ College

The Master’s College used 18 hits Saturday to defeat Christ College, 20-6.

Mike Wilson pitched the win at home for The Master’s (3-7). He also hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth. The Mustangs scored 10 runs in the sixth to put the game away.

Matt MacArthur, Terry Sloan and Kevin Taylor, who pitched in relief of Wilson in the sixth, each had three hits for The Master’s.

Valley 8, Glendale 4; Valley 7, College of Marin 5--Valley College used hitting, pitching and the other team’s errors to win first- and second-round games in the Ventura Tournament at Santa Barbara City College.

Freshman pitcher Drew Ricker, out of El Camino High, struck out 11 and allowed 8 hits in 8 innings to lead the Monarchs over Glendale College. Freshman first baseman Mark Gieseke was 3 for 4 with two RBIs and a double.

Against College of Marin, the score was tied at 5 in the eighth inning when sophomore second baseman Tim Riley singled to score the two winning runs.

Canyons 19, Cerritos 8--Don Erickson went 6 for 6, including a double, triple and two home runs. He also had six runs batted in. The Cougars hit six home runs.

Left fielder Alex Vasquez went 2 for 4 with a double and a home run while second baseman Victor Sotelo was 3 for 5 with three RBIs.
