Seal Beach : City to Vote on Project for Restoring Lost Beach

Share

To fight erosion on the shores of Seal Beach, the city plans to move sand from the west side to the east side of the city’s pier, the city engineer said.

The City Council will vote today on appropriating $20,000 to transport about 5,000 cubic feet of sand, the beginning of a project aimed at restoring the city’s beach.

The city will move more sand each year to combat normal ocean currents and weather conditions that have steadily eroded the city’s shoreline. The erosion was not caused by the storms which have battered the coast recently, the engineer said.
