Torrance : $250 Given to Fight Vandals
The South Torrance Lions Club has donated $250 for 1,000 buttons to be used in the city’s Parks and Recreation Department’s Youth Vandalism Awareness Program.
The buttons were produced by students at South High School, according to Gene Barnett, director of the Parks and Recreation Department.
The city appointed a task force in 1981 to combat vandalism, particularly at city parks. A public awareness program using buttons, coloring posters and a video presentation is aimed at children in kindergarten through third grade.
