Zookeeper Pounces on Escaped Leopard
Zookeeper Mike Brown was praised as a hero Wednesday for pouncing on a 125-pound black leopard that leaped from its cage as horrified families looked on.
Brown was in good condition Wednesday after being mauled by the leopard Tuesday afternoon at Brit Spaugh Zoo. Brown was apparently standing on a catwalk behind the leopard’s cage, preparing to drop meat through a ceiling hatch, when the leopard jumped 7 feet straight up and landed on top of the cage. Brown pounced on the the animal and screamed for help. The animal was shot to death.
