Stater Bros. might delay its annual meeting.

Bernard R. Garrett, chairman of the Colton-based supermarket company, said that, because of serious legal proceedings initiated against ousted Chairman Jack H. Brown, the board might consider rescheduling the March 20 meeting. Opposing factions had been expected to engage in a bitter proxy fight. Garrett added that, in a continuing review of its first-quarter results, the company has identified a number of significant adjustments and thus will delay release of the final results.
