Philly Police Official Sentenced

PHILADELPHIA —
The city’s former No. 3 police officer was sentenced to 13 years in prison and fined $105,000 today for heading a ring that extorted up to $1 million from people associated with illegal gambling and prostitution.
Former Chief Inspector Eugene Sullivan, 63, once considered a candidate for the top job of police commissioner, was the 29th officer convicted in a four-year FBI investigation of corruption in the 7,000-member police force in the nation’s fifth-largest city.
