A goal by Ian Rush in the first minute of injury time gave third-place Liverpool a 2-1 victory at Tottenham Hotspur Sunday and kept its English League soccer championship hopes alive.

Chris Waddle gave Tottenham a third-minute lead, but Jan Moelby of Liverpool scored the equalizer in the second half.

The victory gave Liverpool, which has won the title seven times in the last 10 seasons, 57 points. Liverpool trails runner-up Manchester United by two points and is eight behind Everton, the leader and defending champion.
