Watson Named to All-WAC Team Again
San Diego State guard Anthony Watson was named to the All-Western Athletic Conference first team for the second consecutive season. Watson led the WAC in scoring with a 23.1 per game average.
“After this type of season,” Watson said, “you look forward to individual achievements.” The Aztecs are 9-18 heading into their WAC tournament game against Utah at 11:30 a.m. Thursday in Laramie, Wyo.
SDSU forward Steffond Johnson, the leading rebounder in the WAC with a 8.7 per game average, was an honorable mention selection.
Joining Watson on the first team are forwards Johnny Brown of New Mexico and Jerry Stroman of Utah, center/forward Rich Strong of Colorado State and center Dave Feitl of Texas-El Paso. Players are not selected by position.
Center Eric Leckner and swingman Fennis Dembo of Wyoming, forward Jeff Chatman and guard Bob Capener of BYU, swingman Juden Smith of Texas-El Paso and guard Manny Hendrix of Utah were named to six-player second team.
