Long Beach Women Face Santa Barbara

The seventh-ranked Cal State Long Beach women’s basketball team, regular-season Pacific Coast Athletic Assn. champion, will open play in the PCAA tournament tonight at 7 against UC Santa Barbara in the 49ers’ gym.
Long Beach, which compiled a 26-3 overall record and a 14-0 mark in the PCAA, defeated the Gauchos in their regular-season finale, 95-65.
In other first-round games, the University of Nevada Las Vegas will play University of the Pacific at 1 p.m., Cal State Fullerton will play Hawaii at 3, and UC Irvine will play San Diego State at 9 p.m.
Friday’s semifinals and Saturday’s 11 a.m. championship game will be played at the Forum, with the winner earning an automatic berth in the NCAA women’s tournament.
