Shoemaker Wins Aboard Hidden Light
Heavily favored Hidden Light, ridden by Bill Shoemaker, drove to the lead in the final furlong and won the $69,600 La Habra Stakes by 1 3/4 lengths Wednesday at Santa Anita.
Sari’s Heroine, ridden by Alex Solis, finished second, 2 1/2 lengths in front of Top Corsage, ridden by Eddie Delahoussaye, in the race for 3-year-old fillies.
The winner, trained by Charlie Whittingham, was clocked in 1:14 4/5 for about 6 1/2 furlongs down the hillside turf course and paid $3.60, $2.80 and $2.60. Sari’s Heroine returned $3.80 and $3.20, and Top Corsage paid $5.80 to show.
