Anaheim : Strikers Seek Boycott of Disneyland Hotel
Disgruntled Disneyland Hotel employees picketed outside the hotel Friday and asked the public to boycott the hotel during its labor dispute.
“The boycott is still on, and we’re contacting the names of groups that have booked in advance and we are asking them to pull out and support our cause,” said Steven Beyer, a union official for the Hotel Employees & Restaurant Employees International Union.
Negotiations were unsuccessful Thursday after a federal mediator requested that both sides return to the bargaining table.
A week has gone by with no progress since the union’s contract expired Feb. 28. More than 1,200 maids, bartenders, busboys and cooks are represented by the union.
An arbitration meeting, called by the mediator, is scheduled for Tuesday.
